The UMBC Center for Women in Technology is accepting applications from high school junior girls interested in finding out more about the fields of engineering and computing. This year, we are excited that we will be able to invite about 35 students to attend the Bits & Bytes Program to encourage and support women to be leaders in these fields. If you have any questions see Mr. Greene.

Students interested in choreographing or directing in Linganore Drama’s production of Footloose should sign up outside Room C224. Interviews for the positions will be held next Wednesday, January 10th starting at 2:25. No materials will be required for the interview.

Linganore will be hosting an open volleyball tournament throughout next week to raise money for learning for life. To participate, each player must fill out a participation form at lunch and turn it in by today. The price to participate is five dollars per person and teams must consist of six or seven players. If you are not an athlete, but want to support the cause, you can make a donation today during all lunch shifts.

The Cool School Challenge is fast approaching! On January twenty fifth, hundreds of brave students from all over Maryland are going to plunge into the Chesapeake bay to raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics. Help Linganore reach our goal of 3 thousand, 500 dollars. See Mr. Brown in room C101 to sign up today.

Our winds today are going to be 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts between 45 and 50 miles per hour. Cold wind chills can cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin, today our chills are between negative 5 and negative 15 so make sure you’re wearing hats and gloves when you go out. Stay warm Lancers.
