Madam CJ Walker is the African American woman being honored today.  She became a self-made millionaire by creating her very own line of hair care products for black women. When her profits increased to a significant degree, she created a beauty school. She is seen as a historical figure for being the first black female millionaire, but she also defended the rights of blacks and donated money to many charities.

In the aftermath of recent events in Florida, Mu Alpha Theta is asking that Linganore be a beacon of light and strength in a time of sorrow. We are asking for anyone interested to write a handwritten letter of hope and inspiration to those students affected by the tragedy. All will be collected by Tuesday February 27th.

Advanced Placement students, in order to have an AP exam ordered, you must return your registration forms and payments to Mrs. Smith in the Assistant Principal’s’ office by March 7. See Mrs. Smith with any questions or if you need a copy of the paperwork.  

The annual National Honor Society Talent Show is March 21st at 7 pm in the LHS auditorium. Sign-up to perform in the show outside room C-1-2-1 or C-1-2-3. Auditions will take place on March 5 & 7 at 2:30 pm in the band room. Themed baskets such as Movie Night, Lancer Gear, and Fast Food Gift Cards will be raffled off the night of the show. All proceeds to benefit Lily Weaver.

Congratulations to the Mock Trial Team in its win last night (Wednesday night) against Frederick High.  Its record is now 5-0.  Keep up the good work!

This week is National F-F-A spirit week. Make sure to stop by Ms. Beachy’s room in B-1-2-4 while dressed up in the day’s theme to be entered for a chance to win Lancer F-F-A wear. The theme for tomorrow is blue and gold. This is the last day to participate!

All boys that plan to try out for baseball are encouraged to attend the after school meeting on February 27th after school. Be sure to bring a hard copy of your physical.

Congrats to Jessica Buntman for making it to states for diving! She will be competing this Friday at the State competition. Good Luck!

Congratulations to boys indoor track, who won the state championship title at the state meet. Congrats to Carter Holsinger, Michael Belmaggio, and Katie Gallagher for winning first in their events, Will Cioffie, Gunnar Eklund, the boys four by four-hundred, the boys 4 by eight-hundred, Colby Bannon, Lars Eklund, Ani B-James, Sam LaPilusa, and Myah Davies for all placing in the state competition. Amazing job, Lancers!

Thirst Project is the world’s largest youth water organization! Currently, there are over 663 million people without access to safe, clean water. The Thirst Project is here to change this by educating and inspiring young people to join the fight against the global water crisis!  A team from the Thirst Project will be at LHS on Friday during PREP.  If you are interested in attending, please join us in the theater on Friday.  Great opportunity to get involved in service and maybe gain some leadership experience too!
