On February 24, the Pom and Dance team attended a Mid-Atlantic Pom and Dance Association (MAPDA) competition. The competition took place at Gwynn Park High School.

The team was most successful in their Kick routine, placing first against Mt. Hebron High School and Northern High School. Mary Taylor placed first for captain of the Kick routine.

“It felt like a big weight was lifted off my shoulders. I thought we weren’t ready at all and to know that everyone remembered the dance and came out strong during the performance was very reassuring. I was proud of my team for getting first,” said Taylor.

For Short Pom, the team competed against Charles Flowers High School, Mt. Hebron High School and Good Counsel. The team placed fourth.

For Lyrical, the team competed against Mt. Hebron High School and came in second.

The team made many changes to their dances from the last competition they went to. They are still working to improve their dances.

The team will be competing again on March 3 at Fairmont Heights High School.
