The National English Honor Society held their annual induction ceremony on Wednesday, October 25th at 7:00 PM. Thirty-one students were inducted into the group.
Inductees pledged to advance in their study of English and to keep their guiding motto, “Duty goes with Honor, in mind.
Mrs. Natalie Rebetsky, NEHS adviser, opened the ceremony by reciting a quote by Karl Menninger. She then proceeded to talk about National Unity Day, October 25, and challenged members to “Let your voice inspire someone else to do what is good and right. Let your voice be powerful to make change.”
Each officer took turns speaking about events that will take place this year, such as a movie night, game night, scavenger hunt and potluck dinner. The inductees walked across the stage to receive their certificate as the officers read their biographies.
Bridget Murphy, a new member and part of the Class of 2018 said, “It was a great experience to get inducted for the NEHS because I’ve never been inducted into anything before. Language Arts is really important to me so it was nice to get recognized for it.”
