The sixth annual Egg Nog Jog took place on December 16. Even though it was a cold morning, with temperatures below 30 degrees, there was a crowd gathered in they gym before the race.

The event was created in 2012 to contribute towards the 14th annual Quentin Ingram toy drive. In 2004, Ingram passed away due to acute myeloid leukemia. He spent the last few months of his life at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital, where he and his family became aware of the lack of quality toys for the children to play with. After Quentin passed away, his family created a toy drive in his memory to make sure other kids spending lots of time in the Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital would have better toys to play with.

The jog is a two-mile event around the athletic fields. Registrations could be fulfilled with a $15 sign up fee or a new, unwrapped toy. Instead of water stations, there were eight eggnog stations. Runners were encouraged, but not required, to drink as much eggnog as they could at each station.  Jack Watson bragged at the end that he had consumed 40 small cups of eggnog.

“It adds a fun aspect to the running experience. Even though eggnog isn’t the best, it’s fun seeing people try to drink a lot when running the race,” said class of 2018 member Shannon Loughery.

“It was pretty great overall. I think everyone had fun for sure, but of course, being one of the main planners, I can definitely see places to improve for next year,” said class of 2019 member Alex Ismael, who, along with class of 2019 member Jane Quakenbush, was in charge of the committee that oversaw the event.

Those interested should look at the official Egg Nog Jog website to find out the winners of each age group.  Many left with door prizes.

Health Unlimited, Wegmans, Von Eiff Oil, STH,Inc, Mt. Airy Liquors, Damascus Road Community Church, Cedarbrook Outdoor Design/Build, and the Law Office of Daniel K. Tregoning sponsored the event.  Krispy Kreme contributed donuts, and there.

All monetary proceeds from the jog went towards the Pediatric Center and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
