On February 9, the girls varsity basketball team continued their winning streak, beating Urbana High School with a score of 62 – 46.

The first quarter of the game resulted in the score being 14 – 8, with Linganore leading. During the quarter Caroline Ward hit a 3 pointer, and so did Fiona Rowan.  Jessica Mitchell had 6 points.

By the second quarter, the score gap between teams dropped, but still had Linganore leading 27 to 25. In that quarter Jessica Mitchell scored 3 more points, and Sophia Heitzing scored 4 points as well.

In the second half,  the point difference increased, with Linganore holding their lead with 44 to 29. Fiona Rowan had another 3 pointer. Sophia Heitzing was 4/4 with foul shots during this quarter.

Quarter four resulted in the victory.  Jessica Mitchell had scored 6 points and Ashleigh Bonanno was 8/8 with foul shots in the quarter. The total game contained 48 fouls.

Fiona Rowan said, “It felt fantastic to beat our rivals on their home court. It was the first time we had beaten them on their court in at least four years.” It was clear to all how big the mission was, as well as how big the payoff was. This was especially a big deal for the senior members, as this would be their last year with Linganore.

Sophomore Annie Watsic said, “It’s going to be sad to see the senior players go at the end of year.”
