During Spring Break 2017, my family and I had the opportunity to go to Austin, Texas.

While we were there, we went on several tours. One of these tours was of the University of Texas – Austin football stadium. This stadium is one of the largest in the world. We also went on a Duck Tour. This tour starts as a tour from an open bus and then, halfway through the tour, the bus drives into the water and you continue the tour from the Colorado River. The best part was that the driver let me drive the bus/boat in the water.

The city of Austin is very unique. There are several tall buildings, but most of these are hotels or condos. The tallest building in the city is a condominium and has an indoor dog park on the 12th floor. Austin is known as The Dog City and everywhere you go, there will be a dog in sight.

They also have a lot of nature and natural beauty. There is an outdoor freshwater spring, Barton Springs, that is home to an endangered species of salamanders. The water is a beautiful teal color and it was very fun to see all of the dogs, big and small, swimming in the spring.

There is part of the city that is like a mini Beverly Hills. This area is home to big names such as Matthew McConaughey and Dennis Quaid. We got to see their houses from the river part of the Duck Tour.

Austin, Texas has the feel of a city, but also has parts of it that make you feel like you are in a park or in a small town. Austin has something for everyone and is a very cool city to visit!
