On May 9, the #7 seeded girls varsity lacrosse team was defeated in the first round of the Frederick County playoffs against #2 seeded Middletown Knights, with a final score of 29-2.  With a weakened defense, the Lancers couldn’t get anything going against a Knights squad who they lost to previously this year.

Attack Bridget Curtis was concerned throughout the game but liked the way it ended. “We were stagnant offensively and couldn’t get in the flow of things. Our effort picked up towards the end of the game, even though we were losing.”

In what was a down year for the Lancers at 2-11, there are some bright spots to look forward to in upcoming seasons. With the only seniors on the team being Bre Wade, Grace Weaver, and Emily Daly, new opportunities arise for younger players, such as freshman players Bridget Curtis, Emily Cole, and Olivia Geisler.

Along with being the last game for seniors, JV players that were moved up to varsity got experience on their new team first hand. Four players were moved up for the playoffs, including Clare Beiter, Rachel Freeman, Jade Pack, and Maggie McCrossin.

With a young core and promising future, the Lancers go into next season looking to make a huge turn around, and to get back on the track of winning.
