What is one of the main causes of climate change?
If you said, “electric power,” you are correct.
Just think about how many devices you have at home, even the ones you don’t use. All of our devices run in the background without us being aware, and these devices use electricity every single day. The plants that run this electricity cause carbon emissions.
Then, when you throw these devices away, they go to the landfill. At the landfill they aren’t recycled, and they cause environmental disruption. When companies destroy the e-waste the improper way, the combustion from burning the waste is emitted into the air, causing toxic pollution. The heavy metals in the ground also spoil our drinking water and ruin the environment.
Obviously this pollution needs to stop… but how? We all know how to recycle paper, glass and plastic, but recycling e-waste is just as important!
Recycling e-waste is critical and that’s why here at our school Lancer Media is sponsoring an E-Waste Drive. This drive will start December 15, 2016 and end January 15, 2017.

Where can you recycle your e-waste?
Here at school we set up boxes in the main office, Lancer Media room (Room C203), media center, and in student services.
E-End Recycling Center will be collecting all of the e-waste we collect from LHS. E-End provides electronic recycling and data sanitation. If you have any questions about e-waste you may contact E-End. If you have any questions about our e-waste drive feel free to contact The Lance.
