Anna Young makes mashed potatoes.
Comfort foods go with fall. On October 20, the Independent Living class made cheesy mashed potatoes.
The class chopped six potatoes to use and combined them with butter, salt, milk and cheese.
Along with cooking, the class learns about personal finance, morals and values and college preparation.
Cooking takes place once every two weeks. Prior to making mashed potatoes, they made chocolate chip cookies and pancakes.
“It is a fun and relaxing class where we get to learn everyday activities,” said Anna Young, class of 2018.
Independent Living is taught by Mrs. Kate Lane and can be used as a personal finance literacy credit, required for graduation.
