On Saturday March 5th, 11  seniors danced to the “Hustled” around the auditorium while competing in the 18th annual Mr. Linganore pageant. This year’s theme of “It’s Trending” brought laughter and memories to the stage.

The contestants, with the help of their escorts and other show participants, had to compete segments of the show, including entrance, talent, formal wear, and a ballroom dance. This year the boys and their dance partners hustled to the song Shut Up and Dance by popular band Walk the Moon. The dance was choreographed by former FCPS physical education teacher, Linda Gouker, who has been helping with the pageant for many years.

“I really liked the song choice. It made the dance more fun!” said Kayla Sheehy, escort to contestant Daniel Ross.

The winner of the ballroom dance section, Noah Garabedian, was excited to dance. Garabedian said, “I was excited for it because I knew Harper and I were going to do awesome.”

The winner of the pageant and now reigning Mr. Linganore 2016, Matt DeMember said,  “I was really nervous! There was a huge crowd, but once we started the entrances and the crowd was laughing, all the nerves went away.”

The show was both fun for both the audience and the contestants. “It was a ton of fun, I was already close with a bunch of the guys in it, so it was just a blast to be able to have the whole experience with them” said Garabedian.

The whole show was one for the books! DeMember recommends future seniors to get involved in Mr. Linganore. He says

“It was just an honor to be able to be apart of this great event with all my friends and just a great way to begin closing out senior year!”

DeMember say that being a part of Mr. Linganore was his favorite part of high school.
