Growing up comes with great responsibility. One advantage to turning 17 is you’re finally able to register to vote!

Students had the chance on September 12th to sign up to register to vote during their lunch shifts. Most students say that it’s easier to register to vote at Linganore rather than having to drive to the MVA to register. Students must be 16 to register; although, they will not be able to vote in an election until they are 18 years old.

Junior Kate Querry said, “I don’t have my license yet, so I’m glad I got this opportunity to register because I’ve always wanted to, but I just haven’t had the time to go to the MVA.”

If you missed the opportunity, you can go to the MVA to register to vote when you apply for your drivers license or ID card, or change your address. http://www.mva.maryland.gov/About-MVA/INFO/26300/26300-42T.htm
