On Monday, February 22, the boys JV basketball team hosted the Middletown Knights in their last game of the 2015-2016 season.  The boys went into their last game with a 10-9 record, hungry for a win.  They lost in overtime 48-47.

The Knights took the lead early on, continuing to lengthen their lead into halftime.  After a break in the locker room and some time to get their heads back into the game, the Lancers came back from a 20-plus point deficit to tie the score up at 44-44 in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Going into overtime, both teams had an equal chance to pull out the win.  Despite impressive offensive efforts by both teams, foul shots became the deciding factor in this game.  Within the last minutes of the game, clutch free throws were both made and missed at the line to tally up the score to a nail-biting 47-47.  With fifteen seconds remaining in overtime, the Knights were able to drive the ball down the court and make the winning shot.

Sophomore forward Tommy Moyer reflected on the season saying, “Some things I think we need to improve on are our turnovers and free throws.  However, I think we excelled at working as a team.  Throughout the season, we always had great team chemistry.”

The JV boys basketball team will unfortunately be closing this season’s chapter, but are looking forward to next year’s basketball season.
