Junior Luke Staley and Senior Matthew Earp both performed in the Poetry Out Loud county competition. Staley recited two of his favorite poems, “America” by Claus McKay, and “Revenge” by Letitia Elizabeth Landen.

“I think it went very well. Third place is very honorable, considering who won the first and second place,” said Staley.

Luke Staley thanked the English department, especially all of the teachers who were able to make it to the event and help set up for the competition.

Matt Earp won first place, and Luke Staley won second in the school-wide competition held November 2014. Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation contest held annually.  The televised national contest will be April 2015.
