Horticulture will be hosting their annual plant sale during the next three weekends (April 25-26, May 2-3, and May 9-10). On Saturdays, plants will be sold from 9am to 1pm in the greenhouse.  On Sundays, plants will be sold from 10am to 2 pm at the same location.

Horticulture’s annual LHS Plant Sale is a popular attraction in the community.  Students participating in Horticulture grow the plants and do all of the marketing and sales themselves.

“The Plant Sale gives students real life experience because you produce the item and sell it.  You also learn organizational skills that you can use later in life,” said junior Sara Combs.

Horticulture will be selling 35 types of annuals, ranging from $2 to $3; 7 perennials, ranging from $1 to $2; tomatoes and peppers for $2; various herbs for $2; assorted house plants for $3; mulch for $4 per bag; and various baskets, pots, and boxes ranging from $10 to $45.  They  accept cash and checks made payable to Linganore High School.

“Every year Horticulture has a goal to make a $3,000 profit.  Last year we managed to meet the goal, and hopefully we make it this year,” said Horticulture teacher Tom Hawthorne.
