Today’s news: Monday, February 10, 2014

Congratulations to Linganore head coach Rick Conner for being named to the Maryland High School Football Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame. Conner has been the Lancers’ coach since 2003 and has coached the team to two state championships. Conner was named because of his time, dedication and service he’s devoted to the schools where he’s coached, including Linganore, Brunswick, Thomas Johnson and Urbana. Great job and thank you for all you do!

If you are a sophomore or junior interested in spending part of your school day away from Linganore next year for an Internship, Work-Study, Service Learning, or college classes, see Mr. Brown or Ms. Radil-Harris in the Cafeteria during your lunch shift for answers to your questions about filling out your course registration sheet.

The Linganore Latin Club has teamed up with Advocates for Homeless Families, and they’re asking Linganore students to “Have a Heart for the Homeless” this Valentine’s Day. They invite first period classes to collect any donated items all this week, February 10-14. The class that collects the most will win Dunkin Donuts on the morning of the 19th. Please spread the word!

Advanced Placement students—due to recent inclement weather, the deadline to register for this year’s AP tests has been extended to Valentine’s Day, February 14th.

The National Honor Society is sponsoring a school Talent Show. Auditions are in the auditorium this Thursday, February 13th, after school. Dancers, musicians, jugglers, singers, and any other person who thinks that they have talent is welcome to show off for all of Linganore to see!

Congratulations to the LHS students who won a whopping 22 awards at the 2014 Regional Scholastic Art Awards! These students competed with 5 other states nationwide to win their awards. These Lancers are: Rachel Cleveland, Lexi Day, Annee Lyons, Megan Newcomer, Meghan McKee, McKenzie Ridgely, Laura Shumate, Rachel Walker, and Lauren Wolf. Congratulations to all these outstanding artists!

If you are interested in being on the tech crew for this year’s musical of “Curtains”, please attend the first meeting after school on Wednesday, February 12th in the auditorium from 2:30-5:00. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Lazarus.

Registration forms are due by your lunch shift of Wednesday, February 12th. If you did not turn your completed registration form into your advisement teacher, please turn it into the counselor at the round table at lunch. If you still have questions about your registration, please see the counselor at your lunch shift.

Want to eat some great food to support Linganore? You have your opportunity TONIGHT! The Class of 2014’s Safe and Sane will benefit if you, your friends, and your family. Eat at the Green Turtle in Mt. Airy this evening from 4 pm until they close. You’ll need a flyer, but LHS parent volunteers will be there with them or see Cameron Harner today in school.
