Prom is quickly approaching.  This year’s theme is “A Night in Hollywood”. Prom will be held on Friday, May 9 from 8:00-11:00pm at the Holiday Inn at FSK.  Tickets will be sold during all lunch shifts started March 31st at $35 each. Also, Linganore asks that you please consider using Men’s Wearhouse for your suit and tuxedo needs; you can pick up coupons outside of Mrs. Hirschy’s room, C126. Please see her if you have any questions. Also, please note that Friday, May 9 is a two-hour early release day, so our school will dismiss at 12:15 pm.  Students attending the prom are required to be in school all day on May 9.

Congratulations to the winners of the Maryland Federation of Women’s Clubs Western District Youth Art Contest. In the Drawing and Painting Division, 1st place was Megan Newcomer, 2nd place was Meghan McKee, and an honorable mention goes to Laura Shumate. In the Digital Art  Division, 1st place goes to Brad Eisenhauer, 2nd: Claire Soper, and 3rd: Alexi Day. These winners will go on to compete in the State Competition in April. Be sure to congratulate these students on their excellent pieces.

The LHS Sports Boosters are hosting a restaurant fundraiser at Chipotle in Mt. Airy. Please come out between 5-9 pm tonight. Bring a flyer, show it on your smartphone, or just simply tell the cashier. 50% of the proceeds will go to the LHS Sports Boosters to help assist all LHS Sports Teams!

Listen up class of 2017! The spirit fundraiser for your class spirit wear is still going on. The sale has been extended to April 2nd, 2014. If you would like to purchase your spirit wear, check out the posters hung around school for how to do so. See Mr. Hines or Ms. Blum if you have any questions.

Marching drumline rehearsal will be held after school tomorrow in the band room. All percussionists traveling to Disney World in April will rehearse from 2:45 until 3:30, followed by practice for all percussion students planning to march next fall.

Penn State Mont Alto will be visiting Linganore on Friday morning at 8:00. If students are interested in visiting, they should see Ms. Riley in student services.

If you will be 18 years old by June 1st and enjoy working with children, listen up! A residential (overnight) camp in Pennsylvania is now hiring graduating seniors to work as camp counselors this summer. See Ms. Radil-Harris or Mr. Brown in C103 for more information.

Linganore High School is putting together a team of volunteers to help clean up the banks of the Monocacy River and Rivermist Park in Frederick on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 9a.m. to 12 p.m. (rain or shine). This event is being held in conjunction with the 26th annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup. If you are interested, see Mr. Sunkel in Room A139 to sign-up.

Please be advised that The Unified Track & Field meet scheduled for today has been cancelled. Students should not be dismissed at 1:30 and should remain in class, and practice will be held at the stadium at 2:30 instead of 2:00.
