If you’re a senior who would like a baby ad in the yearbook, reminder that the the discount deadline is Sept 12th. Extra order forms can be found outside room A206 or on the LHS website under the YEARBOOK INFO link.

It’s time to apply for honors societies! If you are interested in joining the National Mathematics Honor Society known as Mu Alpha Theta, please stop by Room A140 to pick up an application. All applications are due Thursday, September 18. Please see Mrs. Purgason if you have any questions.

Also, RHO Kappa is accepting applications for admittance to the National History Honor Society. Please see Ms. Richardson in room A219. Pick up applications starting September 9th.

Any junior or senior with a 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.5 in all science classes are encourage to sign up for the LHS Science National Honor Society club.  The club’s first meeting will be held on Club Day where students will receive applications for memberships.  See the club’s advisor Mr. Sunkel in Room A139 for questions.

Congratulations to the Varsity football team for their win over South Carroll last Friday. Way to go, boys!

Congratulations to the field hockey team for winning the Mid-Maryland Invitational Tournament Saturday.  In game #1 LHS took down Montgomery County powerhouse Poolesville 3-0.  In the championship game the Lady Lancers beat Urbana in a thriller 2-1.  Congratulations for a great start to what we hope is a great season! The first game is tonight at Walkersville. The bus leaves today at 2:45.

The lady lancer volleyball team will take on Westminster here with the JV playing at 6:00 and Varsity game at 7:00.

Interested in democracy or want to be an active part of this election? Then sign up here to register to vote! Representatives from the Board of Elections and League of Women Voters will be conducting a voter registration drive on Wednesday, September 10 at lunchtime in the cafeteria.  Students who are at least 16 years old can register; you must be 18 as of November 4 to vote. Please bring your MVA license/permit – if you don’t have one, bring your social security card number (all kept confidential). Any student who is at least 17 years old and registered to vote may sign up as a volunteer to work at the polls as an Election Judge in November. The positions are paid.

Juniors interested in being a member of Junior Council which includes working on prom, must turn in their information form to Ms. Larson or Mrs. Hirschy by Friday, September 12th.  Don’t have a form?  Stop by Ms. Larson’s office in Student Services.

The robotics team will have a meeting right after school until 4:00 in room C127 on Wednesday, September 10th. New members and anyone interested in joining the team are encouraged to come.
