Mr. Jeremy Brown is one of the transition education coordinators. He works with all of the students who have a modified school schedule, whether it be  a teaching/clerical assistant or “SSL,” a student who is participating in open campus, or a work study student, among other options. These options areopen to juniors and seniors.

“My main job is to help the kids that are breaking away from the structure and schedule of a high school life and moving more toward the independence and responsibility of a young adult life.”

Brown is also the advisor for the Student Government Association and for the Key Club.

“The SGA is like the voice of the students, and the Key Club is our community service club,” said Brown.

Brown also co-advises the senior class council and is one of the two assistant directors of the marching band.

“It sounds like I work with a lot of older kids, but I also get to know a lot of younger kids,” said Brown.

Before he taught at Linganore, Brown taught at New Market Middle School for four years. He is entering his 15th year of teaching. Brown attended James Madison University where he was the drum major of their marching band..

“Generally I just can point kids in the right direction. People come to me for all kinds of crazy reasons, and if I don’t have what they’re actually looking for, I usually know who to send them to,” said Brown.
