Linganore will be doing a lip dub next semester, and we are looking for students interested in being featured as lip dubbers! All students will have a chance to line the halls for the lip dub, but those who want to be lip dubbers need to pick up an audition form at lunch Thursday from our own Emily Cronin or outside room B204.

Come to Cinderella’s closet on Saturday December 7th during lancer candy lane in Mr. Lazurus’ room D101 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Clothes will be under $10 and dresses will be under $50.

As you may know, the tribe has decided to have a red out for Thursday State Championship game. We would not only like students to wear red to the game on Thursday but also to school for the pep rally to support the team.

Students wishing to attend a quiet study hall during the Pep Rally on Thursday must sign-up in the Media Center before 10:30 on Thursday. Students will be expected to quietly work on school assignments during this time. No computers will be available for use.

For any Fellowship of Christian Athlete Club Member looking for some community service hours, volunteers are needed to work the upcoming Lancer Candy Lane event scheduled for Saturday, December 7th from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Please sign up to work a two hour shift at the FCA Candy Cane ornament table. The sign-up sheet can be found at Ms. Becker’s Office in Student Services.

The Character Counts Committee would like to announce its 2nd annual Community Character Counts Holiday Drive. Our “Warming the Lancer Spirit Giving Tree” is up and ready to decorate! Students, staff and our LHS community are invited to donate new hats, gloves, scarves, mittens and slippers to decorate our giving tree. The tree is located in the front office. All donations will be given to Linganore families in need over this winter season. Donations accepted until Dec. 18th. Applications are now being accepted for the Social Studies Historical Society, until Friday December 20th. Any Juniors and Seniors who have completed 4 Semesters of Social Studies may apply. You must also have an un-weighted 3.5 GPA in Social Studies courses as well as a 3.25 overall un-weighted GPA. Pick up your Applications in Mrs. Richardson’s Room A219 or Mr. Burch’s room A215. The annual Holiday Concert at Linganore High School, originally schedule for December 5, has been postponed. The new concert date is Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 7:00, featuring the LHS Concert Choir, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Merry Tuba Christmas! Tickets are $5 and will be available at the box office on the evening of the performance.

I Drive Smart, a driver-education company offering classes in our area, has partnered with the LHS Sports Boosters. I Drive Smart employs police officers to provide 100% of their instruction. The I Drive Smart program is extremely safety-oriented and offers a stress-free experience for busy parents, with the ability to register, schedule (and reschedule) all sessions, and complete all required paperwork for the MVA online. For every Linganore student who registers for one of their packages through December 31, 2013, I Drive Smart will donate $25 to the LHS Sports Boosters. The exam registration period for fall and yearlong AP classes will be held the week of December 2-6. Students must return their completed registration form along with the exam fee of $89 per exam to Ms. Smith in the assistant principal’s office. Fee waivers are available for any student who demonstrates financial need. If your family requires assistance with the exam fee, the completed waiver form must be returned with the registration form.

The Lady Lancers club is holding a Cinderella’s closet drive. Drop off any gently used clothes from now until December 3rd at Ms. Ferguson’s office. The clothes will be sold at a discounted price at Lancer Candy Cane Lane on December 7th. The money and any extra clothing will be donated to a local charity.
