Fellowship of Christian Athlete Club Members: The deadline for turning in your T-shirt order and your filled Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Box is this Friday. Please drop off those items at Ms. Becker’s office or Ms. Purgason’s classroom. Also, please sign up to work the Candy Lane event held on Saturday, December 7th. See Ms. Becker for details and to sign up for a two hour time slot

Just a reminder that all Turkey Meal money is due next Monday, November 18th. There have already been donations for about 15 meal boxes turned in! Thank you to everyone in advance for your help and generosity.

It’s time to start thinking about what your part will be for three big Linganore Service events. Check out the red tent at lunch all this week to find out more information about three HUGE Lancer projects- Relay for Life, The Polar Bear Plunge, and the Egg Nog Jog. Everyone can do something to help- stop by and talk to your SGA and get yourself involved!

The National English Honor Society is holding a book sale! Books will be sold this Saturday night, before the showing of the play, as well as during intermission!

The Poetry Out Loud competition has returned to LHS. Our school competition will be held on Thursday, November 21st during second period, and the winner will move on to the county competition. Any interested students should see Mrs. Garst in room C207 by Friday, November 15th if interested in competing for the title of LHS Champion!

The holidays are a time of celebration and giving. Linganore Men’s Society and Lady Lancers are hosting a food drive to give to local food banks. Please consider giving to those in need. Bring dry and canned goods to either Mr. Lazarus or Mrs. Ferguson.

The winter season is upon us! All winter sports teams start practice this Friday. All paperwork needs to be completed and turned in to the coach to participate in tryouts. Schedules are posted on the windows of the Athletic Director’s office.

All girls planning to try out for Basketball: please sign up in Coach Wolfe’s room today in room A-142 if you have not done so already. You can also sign up on your way to lunch, after school or tomorrow morning.

Any girls interested in playing lacrosse in the spring should attend an organizational meeting after school today, at 2:30 pm in the media center.

Here are a few important bits of information regarding this year’s Safe and Sane event:

  • Registration forms were given to every senior who attended the class meeting on October 16. Please return to the LHS front office and they will be placed in the Safe and Sane mail box or bring them to the November meeting.
  • Five Guys restaurant fundraiser on Tuesday November 19, 5 -9pm
  • California Tortilla restaurant fundraiser on Tuesday December 10, 5-10pm

I Drive Smart, a driver-education company offering classes in our area, has partnered with the LHS Sports Boosters. I Drive Smart employs police officers to provide 100% of their instruction. The I Drive Smart program is extremely safety-oriented and offers a stress-free experience for busy parents, with the ability to register, schedule (and reschedule) all sessions, and complete all required paperwork for the MVA online. For every Linganore student who registers for one of their packages through December 31, 2013, I Drive Smart will donate $25 to the LHS Sports Boosters. Enter Linganore as your child’s school during registration to ensure a donation to the LHS Sports Boosters. Advanced Placement (AP) Exam registration materials are being distributed in AP classrooms this week. The exam registration period for fall and yearlong AP classes will be held the week of December 2-6. Students must return their completed registration form along with the exam fee of $89 per exam to Ms. Smith in the assistant principal’s office. Fee waivers are available for any student who demonstrates financial need. If your family requires assistance with the exam fee, the completed waiver form must be returned with the registration form.

Linganore High School would like to help families in need of Thanksgiving meal assistance. Linganore classes, clubs, and groups will be working to package Thanksgiving meals for area families. Meals must be picked up at LHS between 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm on Monday, November 25. Please contact Ilana Blum ([email protected], 240-566-9737) by Wednesday, November 13, with your name and phone number.

Lady Lancers is hosting a Cinderella’s Closet fundraiser. Donate gently used clothing and Homecoming/Prom dresses to be sold to raise money for charity or donated to girls who can’t afford to buy one of their own. Donate now thru December 3rd. Drop off donations in Mrs. Ferguson’s office. Now currently accepting:

  • Homecoming/prom dresses
  • Shirts/shorts/jeans/pants
  • Winter coats
  • Scarves/hats/gloves
  • Shoes
