(Left to right) Spencer Young, Jac Medve and Austin Lohneis will continue their education at the University of South Carolina.

Austin Lohneis, Jac Medve and Spencer Young will be travelling Columbia, SC to attend the University of South Carolina.

Lohneis will be majoring in criminal justice. “I found that South Carolina’s program to be the best for me.”

Medve plans to study finance and political science. He was also awarded a scholarship over $80,000 and is accepted into the honors program. He feels that his involvement in SGA supported his decision. “Joining SGA was something I was unsure of, and it ended up being the biggest part of my high school career.”

Young will major in finance. “I’ve always wanted to attend a four year university, and the University of South Carolina feels like home.”

The three boys look forward to living in a new southern environment. Medve said, “I’m looking forward to the sweet tea and southern food.”

Although they’re excited for the future to come, they still share a common fear of living on their own for the first time.

“I am a momma’s boy,” said Young. “I’m scared to have to take care of myself and be on my own.”

They thank their parents and teachers for preparing them to face their fears.

“My parents have prepared me for my future plans by being role models and teaching me right from wrong,” said Lohneis.

Young said, “I’d like to thank all the teachers I’ve had and all the teachers I didn’t have that helped me in my time here. I’m ready because I’ve been pushed, and I will push myself to not settle or limit myself.”
