Senior Allison Eckloff placed first in the Maryland Federation of Women’s Clubs art competition for her photo, “April.”

The subject of the winning photo was patterns. Eckloff had to incorporate a multitude of different patterns into one shot and have it look organized and not overly busy. She said that she chose to take a portrait, as they are her main subject and her AP concentration.

In order to get to final competition, Eckloff had to win at the Frederick Area Women’s Civic Club level and at Congressional level.

Eckloff said, “I feel very honored to have won states because it was a hard level to get to.”

Eckloff has loved photography since she was little, and has been taking photography classes at Linganore since her freshmen year.

Eckloff said, “It’s what I love. It’s something to express yourself, that’s what I love about it”

After she graduates, Eckloff is taking a year off to take photos and hopes to pursue a career in photography in the future.

Her photograph will be displayed at the MFWUC convention to be held in Annapolis on April 30th where she will also be honored at a ceremony and get the chance to discuss her work with other contestants.
