The first AP macro review will be Monday, March 27th, during PREP. Sign-ups are outside of Mr. Beaver’s door in room A227.

Musicians who received a superior rating at the County Solo and Ensemble Festival are eligible to participate in the State Solo and Ensemble Festival, which will be held on Saturday, May 20th, at Towson University.  Commitment forms are available from Mr. Lloyd this week and are due back on Tuesday, March 28th.

Congressman John Delaney is hosting the Military Academy Night in Frederick on Thursday, March 30th, at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria of Tuscarora High School.  If you are thinking about applying to a military academy, you and your parents are encouraged to attend this event.

Attention seniors:  The Community Foundation of Frederick County scholarship application process is open until Friday, March 31st.  You must email your school counselor for a PDF of your current transcript to complete the application.  The Community Foundation of Frederick County has one application for many different scholarship opportunities.  Each scholarship is a minimum of $1,000.

The Frederick County Virtual School will be publishing information on Monday, March 27th, about summer school options.  See your school counselor for more information.

Attention students who are interested in joining the military:  The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery will be given at Linganore on Wednesday, April 5th.  If you are interested in learning more about your career interests and options, please sign up in Student Services.

The Drama and Performing Arts departments have been hard at work these past few weeks in preparation for our spring musical “The Addams Family”. We would love to have you, your family and friends come see the show. There is a suggested PG-13 rating, but nothing inappropriate. The show opens on Thursday, April 6th, at 7:00 pm and runs through the weekend.  Matinees are Saturday April 8th, and Sunday, April 9th, at 2:00 pm.

On Monday, a drive called Healing Hearts will begin. Children’s books, coloring books, crayons and new stuffed animals will be collected. These items will be donated to the New Market Volunteer Fire Department for the firefighters to give to children to comfort them in high stress situations. A donation box will be set up in the front office and donations will be accepted until Thursday, April 13th.

The votes have been counted.  Congratulations to all of our candidates and thank you for a great voter turnout.  Some votes were very close.  Here are the results from yesterday’s election:

For the Class of 2018:  your President is Kenny McQuay, Vice President is Shannon Loughrey, Secretary is Shea Stewart, Treasurer is Tommy Moyer, and your Historian is Brenna Lindsay.

For the class of 2019:  your President is Shay Arneson, Vice President is Alyssa Danner, Secretary is Alec Deyaert, Treasurer is Charlie Rasmussen, and your Historian is Emily Wolfe
For the class of 2020: your President is Allie Sible, Vice President is Luke Goundry, and your Treasurer is Clare Beiter.

And now for sports related news…

Last night, the baseball team beat Tuscarora 14-9 and softball won 10-0.

Both the girls’ and boys’ Varsity tennis teams lost to Tuscarora by the score of 4-1.  The teams will travel to Catoctin and the bus will leave at 2:40 pm.

Boys’ lacrosse won their game against Walkersville yesterday 17-1.

The baseball team will be traveling to Catoctin today. The game begins at 4:00 pm.

Students still interested in participating in Unified Track should get their contact information to Mrs. Novotny in room C201. Students must have a current physical and must register online through the FCPS website.  Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 – 3:30 pm.
