Communities across the nation are celebrating “National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week” this week. Did you know students who use marijuana regularly tend to get lower grades and are more likely to drop out of high school than those who don’t use? Those who use marijuana regularly may be functioning at a reduced intellectual level most or all of the time. Join millions of teens across the nation who choose to be alcohol, tobacco and drug free!  Get the facts and shatter the myths about drugs!

Attention all students who have taken or are taking an Advanced Placement course this year:  Please remember to provide your AP exam registration form and payment to Mrs. Smith in the Assistant Principals’ office no later than Friday, February 17th.  You don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to earn college credit, so be sure to register by the deadline. See Mrs. Smith with any questions, or for an additional copy of the registration form.

Have you ever wanted to be on TV or part of TV production?  If so, next year there is a Digital Communications class offered here at LHS. Students will learn how to produce the announcements as well as make commercials, learn video editing and producing skills. Make sure to mark Digital Communications on your registration form and see Mr. Greene with any questions.

Last Thursday, students who participated in Polar Bear Plunge raised a total of $2,880 to benefit Special Olympics Maryland.

Come out to support your Varsity cheerleaders tonight at the County Cheer Competition. It is being held right here at LHS!  Doors open at 6:15 pm and the competition starts at 7:00 pm.

Friday night, the Varsity boys’ basketball team took down Middletown with a score of 54-46.

Tonight at 6:00 pm, the swim team will take on Tuscarora at Walkersville.
