On February 3, Jack Staub officially committed to play football at Shippensburg University. Staub has played football since 8th grade, and is prepared to move onto the next level of athletics.

Staub said that he did not always plan to play college football. He wanted to play basketball. During his junior year, he changed his mind.

Although Staub didn’t always know his football future,  he knew he loved it from the first time he hit the field. Staub’s favorite part about playing football is,“Getting out on the field everyday and playing under the lights, it’s a great atmosphere.”

Staub emphasized that the sense of community at Linganore is what he will miss the most. “I get along with everyone, and it’s just a great place to grow up and go to school. There is no better school to go to than Linganore.”

“You can’t get a better coaching staff than at Linganore,” Staub continued, before heading into the main gym to sign his National Letter of Intent.

Throughout the 2015-2016 football season, Staub had 527 total receiving yards, 7 TD’s and 39 catches. MaxPrep’s has featured many clips of Jack Staub.

After signing, Staub described the difference between college athletics and high school athletics. “They’re a lot faster and stronger; a lot of great athletes playing against each other.” Despite considering the challenges college athletics are sure to bring, Staub is ready to be playing with his new team at Shippensburg University.

Although Staub and the other athletes signed to different colleges, he and two of his teammates from the varsity team (Wade Steiren and Nathaniel Musselman) will be playing in the same conference.

Once Jack had officially signed his National Letter of Intent, he encouraged the future football players and thanked his family and friends.

“I want to thank my family for always showing up and showing love. I’d also like to thank my friends and coaches. For all the younger guys, just keep working so when you come here you don’t have any regrets.”
