Senior close defender, Matt Honchalk, signs to continue playing lacrosse at Stockton University in New Jersey. Honchalk signed his letter of intent on November 14.

Over the past three years, Honchalk has played for LAX factory a club team based in Frederick, Maryland. Previously, Honchalk had played for Zingos Lacrosse, a club team out of Howard County.

In the 2016 season, Honchalk helped the Lancers win the MPSSAA State Championship game. The team went 13-1 last year and hope to do the same this year, if not better. Honchalk was also named First team All-County by the Frederick News Post.

Honchalk’s favorite part of lacrosse is the friendships that he has made. Over the past years, Honchalk has met some of his close friends from all over New Jersey and Maryland.

The men’s lacrosse team at Stockton College has players all across the East coast, including two from the Linganore community. Senior Will Pellicier also committed to Stockton College, on November 14, 2016. Honchalk said, “I am excited to be able to meet new people while still playing the game I love.”

Honchalk is excited about all of the amenities on campus. “I like to eat, so the fact that Stockton has a fully functioning Chick-Fil-A is pretty exciting,” said Honchalk.

Before Honchalk signed his letter of intent, his lacrosse assistant coach said, “Already a leader on the field, Matt helps make the program run smoother.”
