On February 3, 2016, #78 Matt “Juicy” DeMember signed his National Letter of Intent to play football at Grove City College. He first saw the college while visiting his sister, Grace DeMember (Class of 2015), who is a Grove City student, and loved the school.

In his senior year on the varsity football team, according to Hudl,  DeMember had a 40-yard dash of 5.85, bench press of 340 lbs, squat of 525 lbs, and a 15.9 on his 100 meter. When the 6’2″ DeMember caught the eye of the Grove City recruiter summer 2015, and he was invited to Pennsylvania for a campus tour.

DeMember participates in multiple activities, both in and out of the classroom, including Young Life as well as other church groups, and he is the president of the Class of 2016. He is also a varsity swimmer.

DeMember is a contestant for the Mr. Linganore title in March 2016.  DeMember has been in Mr. LHS in some way all four years of high school, so this year he is looking forward to being a competitor.

He signed in the presence of varsity football head coach, Coach Rick Conner, his parents, grandparents, students, and staff. In his speech, DeMember said his parents are his biggest supporters. He said that his faith in Jesus Christ, as well as the support of  his coaches, team, family, and friends have enabled him to succeed.

With an all new coaching staff, DeMember said the school “Seemed to be the best fit.” He said he’s looking forward to “Making new friends and building relationships that will last after school.”

DeMember was the only member during National Signing Day to sign for Grove City. He’s nervous but excited to play for his new team. “Everyone is bigger, stronger, faster,” he said.
