On April 15, the drama and dance department put together The Sound of Music in a spectacular opening night production. Cast leads include senior Abbie Weinel as Maria Rainer and senior Kylan Connolly as Captain vonTrapp.

The show lasted about 2.5 hours, and featured elementary and middle school students in the cast. The Sound of Music takes place in early World War II, and focuses on a family in Austria affected by the advance of German Nazis and their flag with the “black spider” on it.  Maria, who has been sent by her convent to serve as a nanny, must win over the hearts seven children.

After a long two weeks of tech, and several months of preparation, the show was finally complete for opening night. Cast members were pleased with their first major performance.

The musical can now be seen on April 16, 17, 23, and 24. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults online, and $15 at the door.
