The last two days of school, math teachers Jennifer Weiss and Daniel Hayre had their students build bottle rockets. Classmates worked together in groups ranging from two to five students.

On the first day, students had the build, and the second day, a cloudy one, they launched  their rockets. The guidelines: the top of the rocket must be able to come off, and there has to be a small “passenger” that can eject from the rocket and parachute down to the ground.

Sophomores, Francisco Bustamante and Breyden Blakely don’t believe that they will win the contest, however they do have a building strategy. Their plan is to slant the fins on the bottle, so when it is launched, the bottle will spin creating a higher velocity.

Rosalia Tilmont and her group, Haley Barge, Morgan Harris, Olivia Hubble, and Lily Espino don’t have a plan of action, but they still believe that they can win the competition.

The launching of the rockets took place on June 17.
