Class of 2016: Child Development seniors celebrate 31 days with shaving cream

The end of high school is in sight for the Class of 2016 with only 31 days left, but the Little Lancers  (@LittleLancers) have a long way to go. Technically, the youngest Lancers have 2,340 days of schooling left, but the seniors have almost made it!

The Child Development seniors celebrated the 31 day countdown by participating in one of the preschool’s favorite sensory lessons, shaving cream and paint.

When she graduates, Lauren Thompson will be attending Towson and plans to major in sociology and family science. She hopes to become a counselor for adolescents, specializing in family issues.

“I will miss teaching the kids and seeing how the kids progress with their skills,” said Thompson. “I’m also going to miss the friends I’ve made throughout my time here.” Kaycee Oland and Jazlyn Hyde both agree with Thompson.

“I’m going to miss bonding with the kids and all of my friends in the class,” said Oland.

Oland will first be attending Frederick Community College to complete her general education. Then she will transfer to Kent State to study zoology.

Hyde will be attending Marymount Manhattan College and plans to major in performance and digital media, and she hopes to study production and stage management. She aspires to work or teach in the theater.

Hyde, Oland, and Thompson are active theater members. Each has had at least three years of experience, and they agree that they are going to miss the atmosphere and the friends they made in theater.

Child Development has given not only seniors, but all students, the ability to feel like a preschool student again. With the end of their high school career quickly approaching, it is encouraging to be reminded of their very beginning!
