by Lancer Media

Attention all students: Your help is needed! Linganore’s goal for the year is to average 96% attendance. As of the end of February, we are at 94.68%, which puts us just behind some of our neighboring high schools, and fourth amongst all FCPS high schools. We need you to come to school. Every Day! Let’s get our school to the top of the attendance list.

Please join Ms. Aburto for our annual Character Counts celebration this Thursday and Friday during all lunch shifts. Students and staff are invited to sign a character trait that reflects themselves or sign one for a friend! Character Counts bracelets and treats will be given to all who participate.

Advanced Placement (AP) exams will be given the first two weeks of May. All students taking AP exams must be registered no later than Friday, March 18th. Two exam registration periods have ended and this is the last opportunity to register for an exam. Extra exam registration materials are available from Ms. Smith in the Assistant Principal’s office. AP exam rosters will be posted on Main Street on Tuesday, March 29th. Students should verify that their registration has been recorded for each exam requested. Any errors in the exam rosters should be reported to Ms. Smith in the Assistant Principal’s office no later than Wednesday, March 30th. Please contact Ms. Smith or Mr. Keller with any questions.

Today, the health room will be hosting an event called National KICK BUTT DAY during all lunch shifts. It is a National Day that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco companies. There will be a table at each lunch shift. Students and staff: Please come by the table and see what it’s all about and support being Tobacco and Nicotine Free! Come be a part of Kick Butt Day. Come tell your reason why you have chosen to be Tobacco/Nicotine Free!

The Class of 2019 is hosting a fundraiser at the Frederick California Tortilla on Friday, March 18th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Just say “Linganore” when you place your order to assure that the money goes to our school!

There will be no after school tutoring today in room C204 with Ms. York

Last night, our Mock Trial team faced off against Richard Montgomery at the Montgomery County Courthouse. Although they won the facts of the case, they lost on performance by a close margin. Congratulations on an amazing season.

And now for sports related news:

The Varsity tennis teams’ will host a scrimmage against the Oakdale Bears today after school. Good luck, Lancers!

If you are not on a Spring sports team and would like to participate in an after school activity, come join the Unified Sports Track and Field Team Tuesday, March 29th, from 2:30 pm – 3:45 pm in room A133. Practices will be held Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm at the track. For a sports packet, or if you have any questions, see Mrs. Henry in room A133.

That’s all we have for you today, Linganore. To watch this episode and others of the morning announcements, go to www.schooltube.com/lhslancertv, or to the LHS Lancer TV twitter page.
