Congratulations to Alex Ismael, Katie Knotts, and a team of students in Learning for Life. These three groups were admitted in the Frederick County Classmates4Life video contest. Voting is open now and will close at midnight on Monday, February 29th. View these contest entries here, and make sure to vote for your favorite one!

The annual spelling bee will be held on Wednesday, March 9th, in the Media Center from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

Review sessions for the AP European History exam start Wednesday, March 2nd. The sessions will run from 6:30 am to 7:15 am. Calendars are available in Mr. Burch’s room, as well as on Google drive.

The Linganore FFA is having a sub fundraiser! Orders are due Tuesday, March 15th, and pick up is on Tuesday, March 29th, in room B124. Cash or checks can be made payable to Linganore FFA. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Beachy.

Voting for the student member of the board is open until next Monday, February 29th. To vote, go to the FCPS website.

Congratulations to Linganore’s mock trial team for their hard-fought win against Oakdale last night. This is a huge accomplishment because Oakdale has been one of the top-rated teams for years. If you see Maria Pellecier, our all-star lawyer, Ryan Stark, our all-star witness, or Hugh Norko, Garrett Gillespie, Isabella Madrid or Patrick Conboy, please tell them CONGRATULATIONS! Great job!

And now for sports related news:

Anyone interested in playing Varsity tennis this year, must turn in their required paperwork to Coach Sunkel in room A139 by this Friday, February 26th. Tryouts begin Tuesday, March 1st.

Everyone interested in boys’ or girls’ track should attend an informational meeting today after school. It will be held in room A136 and it starts at 2:30 pm. Tryouts will be held Tuesday, March 1st, from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm at the stadium. ALL PACKETS NEED TO BE TURNED IN BY 3:45!!!

Congratulations to the boys’ indoor track team who placed 9th out of 31 teams at the meet this past Tuesday. Special congratulations to Michael Belmaggio, who placed 4th in the 3200m run, Micah Hewitson for placing 2nd in the 1600m run and 5th in the 3200m run, and Lars Eklund who placed 7th in high jump.

The LHS Sports Boosters has a brand new blanket for sale. It’s really soft and the cost is $60.00. If you would like to purchase one, please see Mrs.Day in the front office, before or after school.
