Graduation, as most athletes know all too well, often terminates a player’s career in sports. In football, only 8% of all high school players are recruited to play in college, 2.4% in Division I schools. On National Signing Day, February 4, during a ceremony in the gym, four senior athletes committed to college athletics.

McKenzie McCaull, a lead scorer on the soccer team, committed to Towson University.

The pitcher and catcher for the softball team, Madi Ambush committed to Hofstra University.

Grant Waxter and EJ Donahue both committed as football athletes.

Waxter had an award-winning career and was recognized in January signed with William and Mary University.

Donahue, a three year varsity starter, was recruited by The University of Maryland, College Park as a offensive lineman.

Each commit signed their contract in front of their peers and family members. After they completed signing, each athlete gave a brief thank you to their coaches, teammates, family, friends, and fans. They all remarked that they hope their supporters will cheer them on as they continue to participate in college sports events.

Coach Rick Conner read a brief summary of each athlete’s accomplishments and remarked that, “These are great kids on the field and in the classroom.”
