“Just like in the Wizard of Oz, there are three important things you need to be a successful artist: a brain, a heart, and courage,” said NAHS president senior Liz Moore in the NAHS induction ceremony on the evening of April 23. These admirable qualities were in representation at the National Art Honor Society’s 25th annual art show, where artwork by students from all levels was on display, showcasing the talent and imagination of the student body.

From 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm on April 23rd, students were invited to bring friends and family to see artwork in the LHS auxiliary gym. In honor of the art show’s 25th anniversary, balloon-shaped pieces of paper were decorated and made to represent 25 in some way or another – one even features 25 brussels sprouts!

During the NAHS induction, seniors received honor cords, and juniors received certificates of membership.

Art teacher Georgia Geisser and the NAHS presidents Liz Moore and Mackenzie Wilson spoke before the induction and presented $900 scholarships to the students who have shown initiative and have spent a significant amount of time running NAHS activities. This year, the recipients were seniors Amy Huff and Liz Moore.

Along with the induction ceremony, NAHS also held a silent auction which featured jewelry, mugs, and artwork created by both faculty and students. They made $500 profit which will go towards next year’s arts scholarship fund.
