An apple a day keeps the losses away!

On Wednesday, November 4, the JV football team played their final game against Catoctin High School and took home more than a win; they brought back a bushel of apples as well.

The JV football team’s schedule was initially intended to end October 28 after their game against Urbana High School. Catoctin High School contacted Linganore coaches and explained that one of their games had been cancelled, and their JV football team was interested in playing one more game before the end of the season. Linganore agreed.

They called the game “The Orchard Bowl,” mimicking the NCAA College Football tradition of “bowl games.” These games are between out-of-conference teams and are the final game of the season. Catoctin Mountain Orchard “sponsored” the game by donating a bushel of home-grown Pink Lady apples to the winning team.

The Lancers defeated the Cougars 20-6, with touchdowns scored by Evan Hooper, Drew Flower, and Jack DuBro.

Catoctin Mountain Orchard co-owner Robert Black  said, “The coaches from Catoctin contacted me about a mini bowl game, and I was like ‘Oh yeah, I’m in!'”

Congrats, boys!
