Best truck in show

On Sunday April 26, 2015 the Lancers Make It Happen service project hosted an auto show in the stadium parking lot. People from all over the area brought their cars, trucks, and motorcycles to the show.

Three winners were chosen at the end of the show and each received a cash prize. Harold Myers won “Best Car,” Nathan Hayes won “Best Motorcycle,” and Dave from New Market won the truck category. Each winner generously donated the prize money to the project.

Seniors Mike Fink and Chaz Atchison are in charge of social media for the LMIH project. The two students helped out at the car show by signing people in and getting their paperwork filled out to enter the contest.

Although there was a required minimum five dollar donation to enter the show, almost all contestants donated more than five dollars to LMIH. Many spectators also donated supplies such as bubbles, chalk, notebooks, pens and pencils to fill the backpacks LMIH plans to give to underprivileged children in the Frederick County area.

“We received a lot more donations than we first expected,” said Fink. The auto show was a huge success and brought in over $1,200 for the cause.

All the students involved in the Lancers Make It Happen project are dedicated to giving back to those who live in poverty.

“I enjoy being able to make a difference in the lives of children in my local community,” said Atchison. LMIH encourages you to help out and donate, because they hope to meet their goal of filling 300 backpacks by May 15.
