On October 20th, the Varsity Cheer Team took home first place in their first cheer competition of the season. The competition was held at Francis Scott Key High School.

The girls performed at 6 p.m. Their routine was almost identical to the one they performed in the pep rally on October 15th.

The win was especially impressive, as there were 15 other varsity cheer teams competing.

Cheerleading mom and teacher Stephanie Bindel said, “The ones (other teams) I remember that were really good were Severna Park, FSK, and Harford Tech.”

Bindel also said of the girls’ chances of winning, “I knew we were top three, but I wasn’t sure [we would win.]”

Although they were up against stiff competition, dedication and teamwork ultimately led to them taking the first place trophy.
