Hopeful future National Honor Society members gathered in the auditorium along with their parents for an informational meeting about the benefits of applying to the LHS National Honor Society.

The National Honor Society is an organization dedicated to recognize students with an outstanding weighted GPA and a determination for learning. Over one million people across the nation participate in NHS activities.

Mr. Daniel Lake and Mrs. Beth Sands, co-advisers explained the application process.

“NHS application process is mirrored to prepare you for college applications,” Sands said.

“Your NHS application should showcase yourself,” Lake said.

Students who are thinking about joining should greatly consider the benefits of joining. It not only looks good on college applications it is a great experience to further knowledge about education and participate in after school activities.

Junior Elizabeth Gaudlip attended the meeting. “I am considering applying to NHS because it will look good on my resume and hopefully give me a good chance in getting into a good college.”

Anyone who is considering applying should be thinking if they meet the criteria needed to be accepted to be apart of NHS. Students need a weighted GPA of 3.5 and present leadership skills such as extracurricular activities and volunteering outside of school.

To apply students need to fill out a NHS application  that can be found on Linganore’s website. The application must be filled out and handed to Mr. Lake in room C209 by the deadline of September 25th.
