Football games foiled by lightning: Photo of the Day 9/4/2015

Linganore’s first football game against Tuscarora was interrupted at halftime by lightning, leaving the score at 9-7, with Linganore in the lead.  The game was postponed until Saturday, where Linganore won with a score of 22-13.

On Friday night, everyone waited anxiously for the storm to pass and were told that the game would resume 30 minutes after the last lightning strike. Cheerleaders and football players were waiting inside the school building, while many of the fans waited in their cars for the storm to pass or drove home.

After the lightning did not pass as quickly as expected, the game was postponed until 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Middletown’s game against North Carroll was also halted due to lightening; however, Middletown had such a convincing lead, that the game was called a win, 31-0.

Elsewhere in Maryland and West Virginia, the lightening caused other games to be cancelled, delayed or postponed.
