The “prize patrol” arrived with Mr. Kehne in Mrs. Natalie Rebetsky”s journalism class on Friday.  She learned she had won Key 103’s Heart of Learning contest. She was nominated by sophomore Noah Ismael.

“I heard the contest on the radio and thought that Mrs. Rebetsky has done a lot for both me and the school, so she deserved some recognition for being such a great teacher,” said Ismael.

“When the Key 103 representatives came to journalism class, I thought Mr. Kehne had invited them to see our wonderful newspaper staff at work. I could not guess that this was for me,” said Rebetsky.

As a part of the awards package, Rebetsky won various items such as a free truffles every month, a spa certificate, an Ashley Furniture gift card, a Staples gift card, free oil changes, a T-shirt, a lanyard, a pen and a notepad.

“This award is special, not just because it comes with truffles. It represents how great learning takes place when students and teachers work together to achieve their goals,” said Rebetsky. “I am very thankful to have a team of smiling students who work hard. Noah, the editor, has  inspired them, and me, to apply new levels of technology to the school newspaper.

“I think that Mrs. Rebetsky is a great teacher and she puts a lot of enthusiasm and effort into her work. She makes class fun,” said sophomore Julia Peigh.

Rebetsky was the only high school teacher in Frederick County to win the contest.
