Juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend one of the college fairs happening this week. Tonight from 5 to 7 pm at Frederick High School and Wednesday, October 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 at Frederick Community College.

Seniors planning to apply to the University of Maryland-College Park must complete their counselor request by Friday, October 3 to assure meeting the November 1 application deadline.

Thanks to all students and staff who participated in the Banned Book Week activities. The winner of the “Which Book Would You Save” contest is Kylie Ayers. Kylie–please stop by the media center to claim your candy!

Do you know the difference between a bobber and a lure? Between a jig and a sinker? Do you know the difference between a bass and a bluegill? If so, join the BASS Fishing Club which will meet Period 4 in Mrs. Bergstralh’s room next Club Day! To get your pass, just stop by room C215 and sign up!

Congratulations to the LHS Unified Tennis team for beating Urbana. Great job Lancers! Also, The team will have practice today after school.

Last night, the Boys Soccers teams displayed show stopping performances. JV tied with a score 0-0 and varsity with a score of 2-1.

Congratulations to the Girls Soccer teams for beating Tuscarora during their heart-pounding games. Varsity won 3-0 and JV 5-0. Great job girls!

Tonight’s volleyball game at Urbana will be a special event focused on finding a cure for Diabetes. Urbana is dubbing the game: “Battle for a Cure”.
Both Linganore and Urbana’s JV teams have a player with Type 1 diabetes. Maddie France (Linganore) and Erin Wilkinson (Urbana) were named the Youth Ambassadors for the 2014 American Diabetes Association’s Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes. This will be held October 12th in Baker Park. At tonight’s game they willt join their efforts and raise more money for their Step Out Walk team called the “Volleybetics” .

Congratulations to Courtney Casper who placed 1st in Barrels and 2nd in Breakaway Roping at the Maryland High School Rodeo this weekend! Courtney is a member of the LHS Equestrian Club. Good luck to Courtney as she races her way towards Rodeo Finals in Rock Springs, Wyoming next July.
