For any Fellowship of Christian Athlete Club Member looking for some community service hours, volunteers are needed to work the upcoming Lancer Candy Lane event scheduled for Saturday, December 7th from 9:00-3:00. Please sign up to work a two hour shift at the FCA Candy Cane ornament table. The sign-up sheet can be found at Ms. Becker’s Office in Student Services.

Students wishing to attend a quiet study hall during the Pep Rally on Thursday must sign-up in the Media Center before 10:30 on Thursday. Students will be expected to quietly work on school assignments during this time. No computers will be available for use.

Sign up for lip dub auditions for seniors are starting today. You can sign up during lunch today and Thursday look for Emily Cronin at all lunch shifts. Additional information can be found outside of room B-204. Audition will be held after school on December 11 in room B204.

The High School Young Authors Contest is looking for 9th -12th grade students to enter their original short stories, essays, and/or poems to Ms. Cassidy by Friday, December 13th. All pieces will be judged by grade level and winners will receive recognition, a gift certificate and the chance to be judged at the state level.

Good Year Tires has given Linganore 1400 postcards for the students and staff to write to our troops overseas. Help support the troops by writing on one of these postcards, which will we sent out during the upcoming holidays. For anyone interested, there are tons of postcards left! Stop by room C219 anytime by December 3rd to pick one up.

The students of the Linganore High School Marching Band are excited for the opportunity to support our varsity football team and perform at halftime at the Maryland State 3A Football Championship at M&T Bank Stadium this Thursday, December 5. The annual Holiday Concert at Linganore High School, originally schedule for December 5, has been postponed. The new concert date is Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 7:00, featuring the LHS Concert Choir, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Merry Tuba Christmas! Tickets are $5 and will be available at the box office on the evening of the performance.

I Drive Smart, a driver-education company offering classes in our area, has partnered with the LHS Sports Boosters. I Drive Smart employs police officers to provide 100% of their instruction. The I Drive Smart program is extremely safety-oriented and offers a stress-free experience for busy parents, with the ability to register, schedule (and reschedule) all sessions, and complete all required paperwork for the MVA online. For every Linganore student who registers for one of their packages through December 31, 2013, I Drive Smart will donate $25 to the LHS Sports Boosters. The exam registration period for fall and yearlong AP classes will be held the week of December 2-6. Students must return their completed registration form along with the exam fee of $89 per exam to Ms. Smith in the assistant principal’s office. Fee waivers are available for any student who demonstrates financial need. If your family requires assistance with the exam fee, the completed waiver form must be returned with the registration form.

The Lady Lancers club is holding a Cinderella’s closet drive. Drop off any gently used clothes from now until December 3rd at Ms. Ferguson’s office. The clothes will be sold at a discounted price at Lancer Candy Cane Lane on December 7th. The money and any extra clothing will be donated to a local charity.
