Announcements for Monday October 14, 2013

The answer to last week’s question was: CESAR CHAVEZ. This historically famous Mexican American labor leader and civil rights activist fought peacefully for the rights of workers in the U.S. His public relations approach to unionism and aggressive but nonviolent tactics made the farm worker’s struggle a moral cause with nationwide support.

After his death he became a major icon for the Latino community and for organized labor symbolizing grassroots support for these causes. His slogan “SI SE PUEDE” was later adopted by the Obama campaign as “YES WE CAN” Many schools and public building are named after him. His birthday has become CESAR CHAVEZ DAY, a state holiday in California, Colorado, Arizona and Texas.

This week’s winner is……ASHLEIGH BONANNO! Stop by room C231 to claim your FABULOUS prize!
